Cost and fees

From September 2008, Oasis College has been partnered with Staffordshire University, who act as the validating partner for our degree courses. For all those applying from within the EU, this has now enabled us to charge a lower rate for student fees than in previous years.

We continue to be committed to being as accessible as possible and consequently seek to share the burden of fees between the student and the Main Placement organisation.

The course fees for 2009 are £4,835/year*. Of this amount, in most cases, we expect students to pay £1,285/year and placements £3,550/year. (These amounts are provisional and may be subject to change.) With the current ‘top-up’ fees being charged by most universities, this means that the Oasis BA (Hons) costs most students less than the average degree course.

*fees are based on charges made for the academic year 2009-2010. Fees for the 2010-2011 academic year will be confirmed following government funding award notices in April 2010 and are therefore subject to change. Oasis College will notify students and placements of confirmed fee payments and arrangements by 1st May 2010.

The course is designated by the Department of Education and Skills for the purpose of support for fees and maintenance. This means that many students can receive funding from their LEA towards the cost of course fees. Please note: LEA funding does not pay full fees, so students receiving this funding will still have to pay a small proportion to Staffordshire University. Please see our Guide to LEA funding for further details.

Main Placement organisations pay the larger portion of fees in recognition of the benefit they receive from having a student on placement with them. In addition to paying these fees, placements will also provide accommodation for the student, pay their travel costs to-and-from College, and provide a small subsistence allowance. This support dramatically reduces the cost of studying with Oasis for most students.

In recognition of the importance of the support provided by Main Placements, students will not be able to start the course without having secured a placement. Oasis can partner students with placements that have applied to us separately, or students can apply jointly with a main placement organisation (such as a home church). In both cases, a careful evaluation of the placement will occur to ensure that it is suitable for the students needs.
