Entry requirements

The formal entry requirements for Oasis College Degree Courses are that prospective students:

• Be aged 18 or over at the start of the course
• Have 2 ‘A’-level passes at C or above (180 points) or equivalent and
• Have relevant practical experience
• Mature students* with other qualifications and/or significant work experience

Our degrees combine academic education and professional training for those with a passion for working with children, young people and families. It is therefore most important to us that you have experience, drive and a heart for this vocation. This kind of ministry can be tough, which is why we expect you to have some practical experience that demonstrates that this field is for you.

Please note that these are full degree courses requiring the development of significant thinking and writing skills as well as the ability to work with people, so we generally encourage applications from students expecting at least 180 points. Our entry requirements are stated above, however we will consider applications from people with significant experience in the field with less academic qualifications. Mature students with other qualifications and/or significant work experience are also welcome to apply. So please contact us if you have not met the formal academic entry requirements.

If course tutors are in anyway uncertain as to your ability to complete the academic requirements then they may set some piece(s) of work to be undertaken prior to acceptance on the course.

All students accepted onto the course are required to undergo an enhanced CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check. This is required by law for all those working with vulnerable people.

There are some extra requirements for International Studentsand for some Mature Students, please see our Further Information section for more details. Although academic ability is important, the course is vocational training and formal qualifications are less important to us than proven passion and experience in your field. If you do not have the required qualifications please do not despair, but contact us to discuss this further.

Prospective students with insufficient qualifications may consider taking an access course of some description. Those without sufficient youth work experience might consider taking the Oasis threesixty UK gap year course. Other such courses will be weighed by the course team on merit; if you are considering a particular course please contact us to discuss the details.
