Esteem: Sex and Relationships Education

Become an Oasis Esteem Educator and receive PSHCE training, specialist resources and support.

Oasis Sex and Relationships Education (SRE), known as Oasis Esteem, has been equipping people to deliver Personal Social Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) across the country since 1987. From these years of experience, both in the UK and across the world, we have developed a wide range of services geared towards young people, as well as providing support for teachers, youth workers, parents and school governors.

SREOasis Esteem is a course designed to provide you with the resources to help young people work through issues surrounding early sexual activity.

As well as clear and accurate information about sex and STIs, Oasis Esteem explores the reasons for early and risky sexual activity and helps to facilitate appropriate discussions with young people and to encourage them to make positive choices in their own lives. Students are provided with a comprehensive pack of resources for use in the classroom.

Why?

The Church is sometimes accused of irrelevance, being silent on the issues that effect ordinary people in the Twenty First Century. Make a difference in your community by providing quality information and facts challenging young people’s attitudes, behaviour and beliefs, and empowering them to make positive and healthy life choices.

How?

Associate Educator Teams are responsible for developing and delivering the PSHE programmes in their local communities. This involves introducing the service to their local schools, booking lessons and confirming content and delivering the sessions. Associate Educators also provide Oasis with simple statistical data related to what they have delivered where and when. This helps us to monitor our performance and coverage.

Who would most benefit from the course?

Associate Educator Teams come from all walks of life. Some are church volunteers keen to serve schools in their local community. They may be parents, shift workers with time available during the day, nurses or other health professionals.

Alternatively, an increasing number of Associate Educators are youth workers employed by churches or Christian organisations. They are already committed to serving their local schools and find that Oasis Esteem opens doors for them. The training, resources, curriculum and support enable them to do their job – only better!

Delivery of Training

Oasis Community Health provides the training, resources, curriculum and support for its Associate Educator Teams. The rights and responsibilities of Associate Educators are outlined in a License Agreement. Once registered, Associate Educators are provided with access to the password-protected area of the website containing lesson plans, briefing sheets, training pages and a whole lot more. These can be downloaded and used for free.

Entry Requirements

No previous experience or knowledge is required as all Associate Educators are provided with comprehensive training.
