Dear All,

As some of you may be aware Oasis College of Higher Education celebrates its 25th year as a provider of academic training and practical learning in 2016. Over the past quarter of a century, we have seen the landscape of theological education and practical training develop and diversify. Theological colleges in the UK have all struggled in the recent past to actively recruit substantial student cohorts. As a result some have ceased academic provision, with others reducing their academic resources. Oasis College, with the support of Oasis Charitable Trust, has strived year on year to ensure, that despite difficulties recruiting students within the sector, our excellent level delivery of teaching, learning, training and support was maintained out of our central London campus.

Unfortunately Oasis College has also seen a steady decline in students, despite having a positive recruitment strategy in place, supported by staff and resources. We have failed to recruit our minimum target of students for a number of years. Consequently this has put a stress on the financial resources available and as a result, the College Board has had to re-consider the future direction of the College.

In the light of the financial implications specifically brought about by low recruitment levels for the current 2016-2017 academic year, the decision was taken by the College Board to no longer recruit to our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In practice this means that no new undergraduate and postgraduate students will commence studying at Oasis College.

Oasis College will still seek to provide short and continued professional development courses for the foreseeable future and will continue to recruit for these courses. Oasis College with guidance from the College Board, the wider Oasis Family and our academic partner Staffordshire University will seek to restructure the roles and responsibilities of staff to accommodate these changes and work actively to identify a new path for the College.

As a College we would like to thank all staff, students, alumni and partners for their support and prayers for us during this time.

Thanks,

Adrian Smith

Principal, Oasis College of Higher Education.
