About us

Oasis College is a higher education institution and a part of the international Oasis group of organisations united by a Christian ethos. The Oasis group is involved in social action, education and healthcare and you can read more about the work of Oasis Charitable Trust on our partners page.

Oasis has been providing training for youth work and ministry in the UK since 1991 and established a reputation for producing high quality youth workers and ministers. Oasis College was formed in 2009 as a higher education institution to accommodate a growing portfolio of awards and qualifications that build on the strengths of the original youth work and ministry course. The College now offers a range of academically and professionally validated short courses, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study. It serves the training and professional development needs of the Oasis group of organisations and the wider public, with a special concern for people working in the third sector.

Oasis College is distinct because we only provide programmes of education that equip and resource practitioners working with children, young people, families and their communities. This means all our students are in some form of placement (voluntary or employed) while studying with us – whether starting out in this field of work and ministry or returning to study in order to reflect and develop their practice. Through the provision of academically and professionally validated programmes of learning we resource workers to serve in communities, supporting regeneration and renewal as a reflection of our ethos and beliefs.

Oasis College is also committed to generating and sharing knowledge through research and publications that inform practice in the public, private and voluntary sectors. We work closely with our academic partner, Staffordshire University, and a range of associates such as the National Youth Agency, Children’s Workforce Development Council, ‘think tanks’, denominational networks, local churches and Christian agencies to advance knowledge and practice in the field of work and ministry involving children, young people, families and their communities.
