Why study at Oasis College?

Oasis College is distinctive because of the Christian ethos that underpins our support for students and our emphasis on practical experience. We believe in learning by doing, and offer high levels of support for new and experienced workers to draw on theoretical knowledge and theological reflection to develop work and ministry with children, young people, families and communities.

We offer a range of courses at different levels from short courses to full-time undergraduate studies. Below is a list of the courses we offer.

Foundation Diploma and Certificates (Flexible Short Courses)

Our foundation programme offers a range of modules that can be taken as individual short courses or combined to achieve a University Foundation Diploma in Supporting People. These are ideal for new and experienced workers/volunteers seeking to extend their skills through achieving nationally recognised qualifications. These courses are:

  • Working with Children, Young People and Families
  • Engaging in Communities
  • Mentoring through Intentional Relationships
  • Supporting Young People in Promoting Positive Relationships
  • Whole Life Ministry and Mission

Undergraduate Awards (Full and part-time)

Our undergraduate programme offers a pathway towards professional recognition in three fields of work and ministry. These awards are designed to prepare and equip students to serve in communities alongside children, young people and families as fully qualified graduates.

  • FdA or BA (Hons) in Children’s Work and Ministry
  • FdA or BA (Hons) in Youth Work and Ministry (with JNC recognition)
  • FdA or BA (Hons) in Family Support Work and Ministry

Graduate and Postgraduate Awards (Full and part-time)

Our postgraduate programme provides a route for continuing professional development and higher level qualifications for experienced workers. These awards are designed to develop your critical thinking and develop your expertise as an advanced practitioner.

  • Graduate Diploma in Youth Work and Ministry (with JNC recognition)
  • MA in Children and Families Ministry
  • MA in Youth Ministry
  • MA in Community Ministry
  • MA in Pastoral Ministry

These courses are designed to develop your critical thinking and develop your expertise as an advanced practitioner without having to work towards a full postgraduate award (but credits can be carried forward to an MA programme at a later date). Courses run over a 3-6 month period and require attendance at College for between 2-4 days over this period. You are provided with supported learning materials and access to on-line resources to support your learning. Courses include:

  • Ethos and Leadership in Social Sector Organisations
  • Supporting Professional Development in Work-based Learning
  • Chaplaincy Skills

Being at Oasis College was great - whilst working towards a professional youth work qualification I had the support and fellowship of other Christians studying to be full time youth workers
