Course Title: Mentoring Through Intentional Relationships
Module Code: AM75382-3 Credits: 15 Fee: £195.00
Module Leader: Paul Fenton Location: Oasis College or in location
Status: Option for the University Foundation Diploma and available as stand-alone course through a Certificate of Credit
Mode of Delivery: The full course takes 10-15 weeks to complete and requires attendance at three taught workshop days during this period. This course can be tailored to a group in your location (by request) subject to sufficient student numbers. There is also a ‘fast-track’ option for experienced practitioners who have completed the Oasis Mentoring predecessor course based on a one day top-up and completion of the required assessment (see details below).
Starting Dates: This course runs up to three times a year with starting dates in the Autumn (Sept-Dec.), Spring (Jan-Apr.) and Summer (May-Aug.). Courses are subject to a minimum number of students in order to run in any given teaching block.

Overview: This course aims to provide participants with a grounding in aspects of good practice in mentoring through intentional relationships. The module explores four themes:
  • Models for mentoring practice;
  • Skills for mentoring practice;
  • Policy for mentoring practice;
  • Evaluation of mentoring practice
A key emphasis throughout the module will be the application of knowledge and understanding gained to actual mentoring practice. Therefore, the module will introduce participants to a range of tools and activities that enhance practice through role play and case studies and require students to complete 6 hours of mentoring practice.
Assessment: Portfolio (1,500 words). 100%
