Oasis are for people and we are for community. In all we do we want to serve people and build inclusive communities - where everyone is accepted and valued. You might also say that we act as a physical oasis for people or communities too. We don’t believe in creating a place out of touch with reality, but sometimes we all need somewhere to re-group and prepare for the next stage of the journey. This is why you'll see our logo with 'for people and community' written underneath it - and as you can see it works on two levels - clever!

UK Partnerships
Staffordshire University has an excellent reputation for long established partnerships that are key to our success. Partners include a wide range of institutions including FE colleges and charitable organisations that include the Oasis College and the Centre for Youth Ministry. Executive
The University is led by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Gunn. Overall management of the University is the responsibility of the University Executive Team, which comprises the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University Secretary, Finance Director, Director of Human Resources and Executive Pro Vice-Chancellor. Chancellorship
The honorary position of Chancellor of Staffordshire University was created when the institution was awarded university status in 1992. The first Chancellor was Lord Ashley of Stoke, former MP for Stoke-on-Trent South. Lord Bill Morris of Handsworth has been Chancellor since 2002 following Lord Ashley's retirement from office. Governance

The National Youth Agency is committed to advocacy on behalf of young people and believe that they should have a voice in everything that affects them, and that the performance of services will be improved by taking proper account of that voice. The NYA believe that young people have the energy and potential to improve their own lives and those of the community, now and as they grow up.
The NYA is an independent charity and the partner of choice for government, local authorities, businesses and the third sector, delivering with them, and advising and supporting them in the development of programmes and policies for young people.
The NYA focus on young people’s improvement by:
1. Advocating with and on behalf of young people to promote their voice and influence in society
2. Advocating for youth work and youth work methodologies
3. Improving the delivery of work with young people through development of the non-formal curriculum and workforce skills and training.
Professional Validation of Higher Education Programmes
The NYA oversees the professional validation of Higher Education programmes on behalf of JNC, to ensure the continuing quality of professional level youth work training confering JNC status. Click here for information about the process of professional validation. The National Youth Agency also publishes its annual monitoring reports on validated training programmes for youth workers. The report is prepared as part of the Agency’s process for ensuring good practice within JNC professionally qualifying validated higher education programmes for youth and community work. Checking whether qualifications have JNC recognition

Details about the status of qualifications gained elsewhere in the UK or from abroad is also available. You can also find out about the JNC and its role in the youth and community work sector through following this link which provides a brief overview of the Joint Negotiating Committee and their role in the youth work sector. Oasis has been placing students in ministry locations as part of their studies for twenty years. Students can study with the College towards undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in children & family work, youth work, or church & community work, alongside ministry. Our undergraduate students will usually undertake full-time study with the College where they spend one day in College each week during teaching blocks and the remainder in a ministry location. Students are placed in a ministry location with a local church or Christian agency that hosts them for up to three years. Student workers will normally contribute alongside your regular activities but will also help through reaching out to the wider community as they grow in experience during their undergraduate studies.
