Vision

Oasis College is committed to equipping and resourcing students with the skills, knowledge and understanding to improve the quality of life for children, young people, families and their communities. Our vision is: 

To promote informed and reflective practice in the field of work and ministry with children, young people, families and their communities; and support workers to draw on practical experience and theoretical knowledge to improve the quality of life for all. In essence, to learn by doing. 
 

Ethos

Oasis College is rooted in, and motivated by, a Christian ethos of:

  • inclusion: we are committed to embracing people regardless of age, sexuality, nationality or creed as a reflection of our belief that God loves all people without reserve
  • equality and diversity: we are committed to according equal value to one another and celebrating differences as a reflection of our belief that all people are made in God’s image
  • ministry: we are committed to a view of work with people that is a shaped by integrity, calling and vocation; as a reflection of God’s own example and continued participation in our lives
  • community: we are committed to collaborative relationships, expressed through service and mutual accountability; as a reflection of our belief that God is the author of community
  • dialogue: we are committed to learning from each other, engaging in open discussion and debate; as a reflection of our belief that God continues to speak and listen to us
  • peace and justice: we are committed to promoting peace and justice in the way that we work and the resources we use; as a reflection of our belief that God is just and gracious


These statements, collectively, represent our shared understanding of what Oasis College represents and our success will be measured by our ability to demonstrate these in and through our work as a higher education institution.
